Scientific summary

Cranial irradiation, which is a central adjuvant treatment for brain tumours in both paediatric and adult patients, decreases neurogenesis and contributes to cognitive decline. We seek to determine radiation-induced pathophysiological mechanisms directly involving neural stem cells and/or their microenvironment. The aim of my research is to better understand mechanisms controlling adult neurogenesis in normal and pathological situations, an important approach for the development of cellular therapies vis-à-vis diseased nervous system.
