Scientific summary

Auditory nerve fibers convey sound-information from sensory cells to brainstem through neural spike trains. I am interested on the sound-encoding mechanisms with a special interest for drug- and noise-induced cochlear neuropathies in animal models. I combine electrophysiological and morphological techniques with computational models to assess the functional properties of auditory nerve fibers. I am also developing the translational side of my work to propose new electrophysiological markers of the cochlear function dedicated to hearing-impaired patients.
