Laurence WATIER Senior Researcher in Biostatistics and Public Health

Course and current status

Laurence Watier MSc, PhD, HDR is a researcher at Inserm at "Biostatistics, Biomathematics, Pharmacoepidemiology and Infectious Diseases" (UMR1181) unit, located at Institut Pasteur, Paris, and University of Versailles-Saint Quentin, Montigny-le-Bretonneux.

Currently, Laurence Watier is president of the “Source attribution of foodborne illness” working group at the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (Anses) and member of the Scientific Council of the French National Public Health Agency (Santé publique France). She is also member of the Expert Committee for Research, Studies and Assessments in the field of Health (CEREES).

Scientific summary

Her areas of expertise include biostatistics with respect to Bayesian methods, mixed models and time series analysis; epidemiology; public health and the use of medical–administrative databases. Her research activities focus on the public-health impact of changes in exposure to antimicrobial drugs, the medical-economic cost of bacterial resistance to antibiotics, foodborne illness with attribution models, and infectious disease.
