Scientific summary

Economic analysis and evaluation of health care services (Team Health Economics – Health Services Research, CESP, INSERM UMR 1018)

Our contribution as economists and general practitioners to population health research focuses on Health Services Research (HSR). HSR is a multidisciplinary field of research focusing on the use, cost, quality, accessibility, supply, organization, financing and results of health care services. Following a micro-economic approach, the objective of my own research is to analyze users / patients’ health care behavior in primary care in order to characterize these behaviors, to study the factors that determine these behaviors, and to evaluate their consequences in terms of health care consumption. I currently work on the determinants of primary care consumption in patients with disabilities, the over-medication in people with dementia and on medication adherence and its economic consequences in patients with polymorbidities. I also work on issues of patient preferences and shared decision making.
