After training in physiology (master's degree in general physiology, occupational physiology and ergonomics) during my clerkship, I did an internship in public health (occupational medicine option) for 5 years in Nantes and then in Paris. In addition to the medical clinic, I gradually developed expertise in (i) ergonomics (military service at the DGA with JP Menu, C Valot and R Amalberti, CNAM course and university thesis), (ii) biomechanics (DEA in Paris XI-Orsay), (iii) toxicology (Paris Center for poison control, residency, MD thesis) and (iv) epidemiology (CESAM, Inserm epidemiological investigations (D Hémon (1986-93), M Goldberg (2000- ) and A Leclerc (1993-)) allowing an original interdisciplinary approach to occupational health. This was formalized in my ergonomics PhD thesis directed by Antoine Laville (Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes - Paris I Sorbonne) and an HDR defended in 2001.
My work since 1990 is part of an interdisciplinary approach to occupational health articulating four complementary approaches (biomechanical, ergonomic, clinical and epidemiological) referring to the conceptual frameworks of the WHO social determinants of health and constructive and developmental ergonomics. My work focuses mainly on the study of risk factors and the prevention of MSDs and the occupational disintegration they induce.
Since 2018, my work and the work carried out under my direction has placed particular emphasis on (i) the interrelationships between work organization, managerial practices, psychosocial factors at work and MSDs, integrated prevention of MSDs and return to work after cancer.
