Laurence Watier MSc, PhD, HDR is a researcher at Inserm at Centre for Epidemiology and Public health (CESP, U1018), "Anti-infective Evasion and Pharmacoepidemiology" Team, located at Institut Pasteur, Paris, and University of Versailles-Saint Quentin, Montigny-le-Bretonneux.
Currently, Laurence Watier is a member of the “Commission scientifique spécialisée” CSS6 of Inserm and of the Ethical and scientific committee for research, studies and assessments in the field of Health (CESREES). She is a former member of the Scientific Council of the French National Public Health Agency (Santé publique France, 2017-2020). She works/has worked with various public institutions as member of selection board for researchers or engineers, expert or consultant (Anses, DGS, Inria, Inserm, Spf).
Scientific summary
Her areas of expertise include biostatistics with respect to Bayesian methods, mixed models and time series analysis; epidemiology; public health and the use of medical–administrative databases. Her research activities focus on the public-health impact of changes in exposure to antimicrobial drugs, the medical-economic cost of bacterial resistance to antibiotics, foodborne illness with attribution models, and infectious diseases including sepsis (PI of several projects funded by FRM, French Ministry of Health).
