Isabelle Forfar is Senior Lecturer since 1994 at the Pharmacy School at the University of Bordeaux. She joins the INSERM research Unit 1034 since 2014. She is working in the team directed by Dr Cecile Duplaa
She obtained her PhD thesis in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Bordeaux in 1991 and become assistant Profesor for one year till 1992. Then she worked as a postdoctoral reasearch fellow at the UNED, Madrid (Spain). Then she joined the team "Pharmacochimie" in 1994 at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Bordeaux.
Isabelle Forfar's research focuses on the use of Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy/imaging for early qualitative analysis of the basic components of cells and biological tissues. More particularly, her research has been particularly focused on the utility of this technique as a tool by detecting subtle biochemical changes in the biological samples. Thus, it contributes to reveal early and specific biomarkers due to biological impacts or diseases. This biophysical approach uses chemometrics and multivariate analysis processing for treatment of spectral data allowing to build up “fingerprint and biomarkers data bank” of a biological event.
