Lecturer-Researcher at the University of Duala -Cameroon since februray 2010
Of Cameroonian nationality and a Lecturer-Researcher at the University of Douala, Gustave MABIAMA studied Applied Biology, Human Biology, Food Sciences, Nutrition and Health Sciences. His teaching focuses on Nutrition, Health and Gerontology. He is the coordinator of the Childcare, Gerontology and Auxiliary Life Care (PGAV) programme, which trains teachers in technical high schools for Bachelor's (BAC+3) and Master's (BAC+5) degrees.Gustave MABIAMA is also a member of the research team of the Inserm Unit 1094-NET (Troprical NeuroEpidemiology) of the University of Limoges in France, a member of the International AIDS Society (IAS) and the French AIDS Society (SFLS), the International Society for Infectious Deseases (ISID), the Belgian Society for Clinical Nutrition (SBNC), the Société Française de Gérontologie et Gériatrie (SFGG) and the International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA). He is trained on Scientific Council in favour of governments.He has directed and/or supervised more than a dozen research projects on ageing in Cameroon, some of which have been subject of scientific papers. He is currently conducting a study on the nutritional status of the elderly in Cameroon and associated factors. He actively participates in the establishment of an African Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics. He is President of the Cameroonian Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics.
