Abdellah Mansouri PhD Toxicology

Course and current status

Abdellah Mansouri was trained in Dominique Pessayre Laboratory (former INSERM U481: Mechanisms and Treatments of Liver diseases), Hepatology unit at Beaujon Hospital, Clichy France. He obtained his Ph.D. degree at the University of Paris 7-Denis Diderot in 1998. He was postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Molecular therapeutics (Head: Dr. Gordon Mills) at MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas, Houston (USA) from 2000 to 2002. He was then recruited as Assistant professor/Health Research Scientist at the ‘Dept. of Cellular and Structural Biology, University of Texas Health Science Center/South Texas Veterans Hospital’ at San Antonio (USA) from 2002 to 2004. He was recruited as first class researcher at French National Institute of Health (INSERM) since 2005.

Scientific summary

The research conducted by Abdellah Mansouri focuses on central roles of mitochondria in drug- and alcohol-induced liver injury. He mainly investigates the mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunction and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) damage inflicted by alcohol abuse, LPS and hepatotoxic drugs.
