infection with hepatitis C virus.
2005 - 2010 Post-Doctoral Researcher; Montreal University, College of Medicine - Department
of Microbiology and Immunology. Laboratory of Immunology, “Centre Hospitalier de
l’Université de Montréal, CRCHUM”. Human Immunology Unit - INSERM U 743.
Montreal - Canada. Subject of research: Innate Immune responses during viral infections.
My research activity focuses on the interaction between pathogens, mainly viruses, and the immune system as well as the modulation of the immune responses under different stress and damage conditions.
This includes:
- The role of CD4 T cells, Toll-like receptors and antigen presenting cells (dendritic cells and monocytes/macrophages) in the response to viral infections such as HIV, HCV and HBV.
- The modulation of the immune responses (neutrophils, T cells and NK cells) by human stress conditions (sleep deprivation).
- The role of antigen presenting cells in repairing tissue damage.
