My objective is to conduct research in public health using a multi-disciplinary approach to study situations from individuals comportment to collective health phenomenon’s for improving care quality and patient safety: preventive care, curative care, hospital services, family medicine, public services, liberal practices, environment, rare diseases, syndromic survey, use of healthcare services.
Methodologies developed to implement this approach encompasses a wide range of activities that proposes innovative computerized methods to manage data and complex knowledge in healthcare such Healthcare Telematics & Information and Communication Technologies, Information Systems, Decision Support both from theoretical and practical aspects combining statistical and mathematical modeling, epidemiology, health geography, complexes systems and knowledge engineering in healthcare.
Besides research activities, I am involved as an expert or member of some scientific commissions such as, for example, Scientific Council of INSERM (2002-07) or as section Editor "Public Health and Epidemiology informatics" for the IMIA Yearbook.
I am founder and director of several public health observatories and multicentric observational studies (Hivern@le, PreObs, Leadeal, CAPA, EeDeeL, IRSAN).
In the past, I participated in the development of health information plateform as Sentinelles network, SIMS-REIN, CEMARA.
