Scientific summary
The malarial plague is a permanent lethal threat not only for Sub-Saharan Africa, where Plasmodium falciparum accounts for more than 80% of the hundreds annual death toll, but also in developed countries, with their one billion inter-continental travellers exposed to infectious tropical pathologies. In this context, the search for novel antiplasmodial drugs thanks to the study of the modes of action of antimalarials and the understanding of mechanisms of resistance developed by the parasite, is an urgent need.
