I am currently working in the laboratory Rétrovirus et Transfert Génétique, INSERM U622, at Institut Pasteur, Paris, France. I have a small group in the laboratory directed by Dr Jean Michel Heard. I am working with two PhD students and two technicians.
In 2008 we set up the iPS cell technology. We generated iPS cells from patients with a lysosomal storage disease, a pediatric disease affecting the CNS. We generate a model of this disease and showed specific defects in iPS cells and neurons derived from patient cells.
We now develop projects on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a uncurable and fatal motor neuron disease. We generate iPS cells from fibroblasts of patients with genetic and sporadic forms of the disease. We plan to differentiate iPS cells into motor neurons to study specific defects in these cells.
